Second COVID-19 vaccine booster lowers death rate: Study

Older adults who received a second booster dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine were noted to have a 78% lower mortality rate compared to those who received only one booster, reported a study from Israel.

The 40-day study included over half a million individuals aged 60 to 100 years. Around 58% of the participants had been administered a second booster shot while the remaining had received only one booster dose. Ninety two deaths were reported in the first group, while 232 deaths were reported in the second group. 

Ronen Arbel, Health Outcomes Researcher at Clalit Health Services and Sapir College, said that the second booster jab is lifesaving. The study has been issued as a preprint and awaits peer review… (Reuters, March 27, 2022)
